In this class, students practice passive stretching and active holds to lengthen muscles and build strength.
Working with a steady, intentioned breath, we begin to calm the mind and release tension from the body. Grounded on the mat, sequences focus on hips and hamstrings. Through a process of muscular engagement and release, students are encouraged to work to their edge, increasing flexibility and improving stability in their movement. The class is organized in a manner to let participants monitor progress from week to week.
The long-term goal of stretch and strengthen is injury prevention, a necessity for students with an active lifestyle off their mat. This class is a great compliment to running, cycling and many more fitness activities.
