Dana initially found yoga in her 20’s as a compliment to competitive dance, but while living in Florida, dealing with addiction and mental health issues, she found it to be a valuable tool on the continual road to healing and recovery. She shifted from bending herself into beautiful poses to finding her breath and unravelling a deeper understanding of the practice. Dana has been teaching yoga since 2015 and has completed her 200hr YTT, 50hr Aerial Yoga TT, 100hr Bhakti Yoga Mystics Intensive, 6 week Womb Science Immersion, and a 12 week Interoception & Somatics Intensive.
As a teacher, Dana strives to facilitate creative and holistically driven classes, rich with pranayama, meditation, and organically driven movement… oh, and laughter! Her goal is to guide students to be their own guru by tuning into the subtle sensations of their own bodies, breath and minds. Intuition is a powerful tool for healing and caring for ourselves – Dana hopes to create a space for that truth to be heard above the noise of everyday life.
Dana chants the mantra “Aham Prema” (I am divine love) daily, but since the pandemic and the shift to an entirely home based practice, Dana has adopted a single word as her new mantra – “STAY”. It is written and hung in her office to remind her that when anxiety arises, to sit with that discomfort and simply be a witness, because this too shall pass.
“And I said to my body, softly, ‘I want to be your friend.’ It took a long breath and replied, ‘I have been waiting my whole life for this.’ “ – Nayyirah Waheed
